With the Volvo S80, Volvo introduced the first mass-market passenger car with a diesel engine, and Volvo was quick to take advantage of that by making it available in all its standard trim levels.

    The company did this by selling a number of other models that were all diesel, including the S90, S90E, S80E, and S80T.
